The Edmonton Riverhawks’ drive for a playoff spot is down to its final day. The city’s summer collegiate baseball team needs to beat the Bellingham Bells in the Washington state city on Thursday night and hope that at least one of the two teams ahead of them in the West Coast League (WCL) North Division standings loses. With one game left, the Riverhawks sit fifth in the North with a 28-25 record, while the Kelowna Falcons and Nanaimo NightOwls sit third and fourth with 29-24 records. Edmonton holds tiebreakers against both clubs. The NightOwls host the Kamloops NorthPaws on Thursday, while the Falcons visit the Port Angeles Lefties to wrap up the regular-season schedule. Each of the games start at 7:35 p.m. MT and is being streamed online by the league. A best-of-three divisional round starts Friday. The Wenatchee AppleSox (39-13) will finish first in the North, while the Bells (35-18) will place second. If the stars align and the Riverhawks make it to the playoffs, it’ll mark the third season in a row Edmonton will have advanced to the post-season since starting play in the WCL in 2022. Last year, the Bells beat the Riverhawks in the North final en route to winning the league title. The Riverhawks ended their 2026 home schedule in late July, setting a new WCL annual attendance record of 142,043 for an average of 5,682 fans watching games at Re/Max Field.
