Craigwiel Gardens in Ailsa Craig has been granted a provincial pilot to help seniors in the rural area age well at home. It will now offer the Community Access to Long-Term Care (CALTC) pilot. “Residents in rural communities often face unique challenges when navigating specialized care,” said Elaine Shantz, president and CEO. “Through Craigwiel Gardens, older adults will now have streamlined access to essential healthcare and social supports – including clinical care, community paramedicine, and enhanced memory care – allowing them to remain independent and live safely at home longer. We are proud to partner with the Ministry of Long-Term Care through the Community Access to Long-Term Care pilot to strengthen our ability to serve older adults and their care partners in Ailsa Craig.” The program, called Connections, allows people to self-refer or be referred by a caregiver, family member, or healthcare provider immediately.
