The threat of a strike by WestJet flight attendants has London International Airport advising travellers to be proactive. Airport President and CEO Scott McFadzean tells CTV News it is “likely the smarter option to change travel plans” as a possible Sunday strike deadline approaches. The union representing 4,400 WestJet flight attendants says it has issued a 72-hour strike notice over issues, including unpaid work completed while on the ground. Talks are said to be continuing. WestJet has offered its passengers with flights scheduled between July 30 and Aug. 4 the opportunity to make a one-time change or to cancel with no fee. WestJet currently operates routes from London International Airport to Calgary and Winnipeg. McFadzean is hopeful talks will be successful before Sunday. If not, he says airport staff will be prepared to shift focus to remaining flights with other operators, and to assist any passengers who have questions on how to contact WestJet.
