Police say more than $300,000 worth of illegal drugs have been seized in Sarnia this week, resulting in charges against a 42-year-old man. Members of the Sarnia Police Service Drug and Intelligence Unit, assisted by the Emergency Response Team and K9 Unit, used several search warrants across the city on Sept. 16 as part of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation. Police said the operation led to the seizure of approximately four kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, one kilogram of cocaine, prescription hydromorphone pills in various strengths and 120 oxycodone tablets. Investigators estimate the street value of the seized controlled substances at more than $300,000. Officers also seized drug trafficking paraphernalia, including scales and packaging materials, along with $151,452 Canadian and $94 US in cash. A 42-year-old Sarnia man was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of oxycodone for the purpose of trafficking, possession of hydromorphone and possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000. The accused has appeared before the courts and the charges have not been proven in court. Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
