One of the two cyclists who were struck by a vehicle last week in Montreal’s Ville-Marie borough has died, police confirmed to CTV News on Thursday. On July 16, Montreal police received a 911 call at around 5:10 p.m. reporting a collision between a vehicle and two cyclists near the intersection of Sainte-Catherine and Frontenac streets. When officers arrived on scene, they found the two cyclists with injuries. The first was a 61-year-old man whose injuries were not life-threatening. The second was a 65-year-old man who was later sent to hospital in critical condition. Police said he died of his injuries in hospital. The driver, a 41-year-old man, was not injured and was questioned by investigators after the collision. According to information provided by witnesses, the cyclists were heading east on Sainte-Catherine Street, and once they reached Frontenac Street, they were struck by the vehicle, which was heading north. Police say the incident is the 10th fatal collision in Montreal this year and that the investigation is ongoing.
