Work to fix a crack on a steel beam on the Honoré-Mercier Bridge has been completed, according to Quebec’s Transport Ministry. As a result, all the lanes on the bridge, which connects the Island of Montreal to the South Shore, have been reopened to traffic. During the work, access had been reduced to one lane in each direction. “The Ministry is satisfied with how the operations have gone and would like to thank all the teams involved in carrying them out, as well as road users for their cooperation,” officials said, noting that the work was “aimed at preventing the crack from spreading and reinforcing this section of the bridge.” The Ministry also pointed out that, due to the bridge’s reopening, the tolls on the westbound A-30 have been reinstated.
