Ontario Provincial Police say a single motor vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer led to a 14-hour closure of Highway 144. Police investigated the Oct. 14 collision where, at about 6 a.m., a tractor-trailer unit entered the ditch south of Highway 560. OPP said no injuries were reported. “At approximately 6 p.m., due to the location of the collision and the nature of the load being transported, Highway 144 was closed to safely remove the motor vehicle and the dangerous goods it was transporting,” OPP said. The highway re-opened on Oct. 15 at about 8 a.m. As a result of the investigation, the 37-year-old driver from Caledon East has been charged with careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act.
