Ontario Provincial Police charged a 31-year-old with stunt driving on Highway 11 in Trout Creek on Monday. “At around 4:15 p.m., an officer was conducting traffic enforcement in the Powassan area when they observed a northbound vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed,” police said in a news release Tuesday. “The officer confirmed the vehicle’s speed at 178 km/h in a posted 100 km/h zone.” The driver from North Bay was charged with stunt driving and using an unauthorized license plate. In addition to a 30-day licence suspension, the vehicle was impounded for 14 days. The driver is to appear in a North Bay court at a later date.
