It was a soggy start to the work week in southern Manitoba after substantial rain fell across the region Monday afternoon and evening. According to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), an area in the rural municipality of Gilbert Plains had the high recorded rainfall accumulation in Manitoba on Monday. The weather agency is reporting 43 millimetres of rain fell in Drifting River, which is located on the southeastern edge of Duck Mountain Provincial Park. Meanwhile, Dauphin, which is about 50 kilometers southeast of Drifting River, received about 33 millimetres of rain yesterday. Further south, Virden was hit with 39 millimetres followed closely by Brandon at 33 mm, Wasagaming at 28 mm. and Melita at 27 mm. Winnipeg saw around 23 millimetres of rain fall on Monday, while areas north of the city saw slightly higher totals. ECCC is reporting 27 mm of rain in Gimli, 25 mm in Selkirk, 19 mm in Fisher Branch, and 18 mm in Stonewall. Other rainfall totals in Manitoba for Monday include; ECCC said there is a low chance of rain in parts of southern Manitoba on Tuesday, but primarily a mix of sun and cloud in the forecast with gusting winds.
