Police in Greater Sudbury say they recently stopped a vehicle that was travelling 120 km/h in a 60 km/h construction zone. “That’s the speed an officer observed on MR35,” police said in a social media post. “The driver was charged with stunt driving, speeding, and received a 30-day licence suspension and 14-day vehicle impoundment.” Police reminded drivers that special speed limits in construction zones are in place to protect workers and drivers. “Whether you see workers actively on site or not, reduced speeds help account for changing road conditions, equipment and unexpected hazards,” the post said. “A few minutes saved isn’t worth the risk. Slow down. Respect the signs. Keep construction zones safe.”
