Two suspects – one from the U.S. and the other from southern Ontario – have been charged with stunt driving in the last four days in northwestern Ontario. The first instance took place July 25 at 8:12 p.m., when an Ontario Provincial Police officer timed a blue Honda CRV travelling at 106 km/h in a posted 60 km/h zone. “The driver was identified as a 67-year-old individual from Sartell, Minn.,” police said. Then on July 27 at 9:31 a.m., Nipigon OPP timed a silver Volkswagen Taos travelling at 153 km/h in a posted 90 km/h zone. “The driver was identified as a 23-year-old individual from Oakville,” police said. Both drivers were charged with stunt driving, meaning their licences were suspended automatically for 30 days, and the vehicles were impounded for two weeks. The drivers are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date. “The OPP remains committed to taking aggressive drivers off our roads through enforcement and public education,” police said. “If you suspect that someone is driving aggressively, it is important to call 911 to report it.”
