Without providing details, Vale Base Metals has confirmed it’s cutting some jobs from its Sudbury operations. When asked about reports that the company is laying off non-union staff and contractors, the company confirmed that some job reductions are taking place. “We recently implemented organizational changes, including a reduction in certain limited positions, as part of our efforts to align our workforce with operational requirements,” Vale said in an email, without elaborating. The company employs about 4,000 staff and another 1,000 contractors at its Sudbury operations.
