Ontario Provincial Police say a novice driver has been charged with impaired driving following a crash on Highway 417 on Thursday. Police responded to the single-vehicle crash in the westbound lanes near Terry Fox Drive just before noon. The driver, a 23-year-old woman from Orléans, was under multiple driving suspensions. Further investigation revealed she had a blood-alcohol concentration nearly three times the legal limit, police said. The driver is facing charges of driving while impaired, driving with an open container of alcohol, dangerous driving, driving with a blood-alcohol concentration above zero with a novice licence, and two counts of driving while suspended. She was given a new 90-day licence suspension, a seven-day vehicle impound, and will appear in court in September to face charges.
