A man was transported to the hospital in stable condition after becoming trapped inside his vehicle following a crash involving a school bus in Kanata on Friday. Emergency crews responded to a call for a crash involving a bus and a vehicle at the intersection of Terry Fox Drive and Richardson Side Road at 7:55 a.m. There were no children onboard the bus at the time of the crash. In a post on social media on Saturday, Ottawa Fire Services said the driver of the vehicle became trapped inside their car following the collision and needed extrication. Firefighters say the bus was entangled in the car after the crash, and fire crews had to carefully back up the bus to access the driver. Firefighters then used specialized tools to remove the car’s doors and safely unpin the driver. Ottawa Paramedic Service spokesperson Marc-Antoine Deschamps says the driver of the vehicle was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the school bus was not hurt.
