The Ottawa Police Service is seeking witnesses to a robbery in Barrhaven on Sunday evening that is linked to a Facebook Marketplace transaction. Police say they were called to the area of Berrigan Drive and Beatrice Drive in Barrhaven at around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday after a victim reported being robbed. The two parties had arranged to meet via Facebook Marketplace, but police say the suspect produced a handgun and stole the item from the victim during the meetup. Investigators are asking anyone who was in the area between 7:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. or anyone who may have dashcam or other video footage to contact the Robbery Unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 2655. Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling Crime Stoppers toll-free at 1-800-222-8477 or at crimestoppers.ca. This is the second reported incident involving Facebook Marketplace this week. On Monday, police said a teenage suspect fired two shots after meeting up with someone via Facebook Marketplace outside a CIBC in Manotick. The suspect was detained by the seller, a security guard, and an off-duty police officer at the scene.
