The Ottawa Police Service says a man has been arrested in connection with a homicide two years ago in the Heron Gate area. Ahmed Al-Badri, 34, was found with gunshot wounds inside a vehicle on Heron Road near Walkley Road on the night of Sept. 19, 2024. Police officers and paramedics attempted to save his life, but he died of his injuries in the hospital. His killing was the 20th homicide in Ottawa that year and the third in the span of a week. On Thursday, police said Joshua Painson, 26, of Ottawa, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. Painson was arrested on Wednesday and was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
