Ottawa police say one man has died and another was seriously hurt after a vehicle struck a barber shop in Vanier on Tuesday. A 57-year-old woman is charged with impaired driving in connection with the crash, police said. Ottawa paramedics spokesperson Marc-Antoine Deschamps told CTV News first responders responded to McArthur Avenue near Larouche Street at approximately 5:40 p.m. Deschamps says an SUV backed into the business, striking two men who were either inside or around the barber shop. CTV News Ottawa cameras at the scene found a red SUV with damage to the two-storey building nearby. Another grey vehicle also had minor damage to its front side. One man was transported to hospital with critical, life-threatening injuries and was undergoing resuscitation. The other was taken to hospital in serious but stable condition, he said. Police said on Wednesday that one of the victims, a 30-year-old man, died of his injuries on the way to the hospital. The second man, 32, remains in hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Ottawa police had McArthur Avenue closed from Larouche Street to Allen Street Tuesday night. The road reopened just after midnight Wednesday. Police are looking for witnesses to the crash.
