The RCMP Heritage Centre launched a new experience that will allow patrons to use forensics to solve a crime. According to the centre, it will be an immersive and interactive experience. “It’s hands on, it expects you to use your critical thinking skills to work together, to collaborate, use a lot of those skills that are necessary in law enforcement, to put their piece of the crime together and solve the crime,” said RCMP Heritage Centre CEO Sam Karikas. Karikas said they wanted to create a unique experience that visitors would only be able to experience at the centre. The lab was created in collaboration with Tourism Saskatchewan, who donated $40,000 to the experience. Tourism Saskatchewan CEO Jonathan Potts told CTV News that bringing a hands-on experience to the RCMP Heritage Centre will bring more foot traffic to the building. “So, interactive, immersive experiences like this are the way of the world when it comes to tourism. That’s what people are looking for,” he said. “So, static displays are interesting. People like to learn, but you learn a lot more by actually seeing and doing. We saw kids here today and it gets kids excited, gets families coming. And it creates a lasting memory when you do something that’s interactive as opposed to just reading or seeing something for sure.” Tickets go on sale Aug. 31 and will be available for $32 per person plus tax.
