A synthetic drug lab inside a residential building in Montreal’s Griffintown neighbourhood is being dismantled Wednesday morning. “Two floors of the condo building will need to be evacuated as a safety precaution,” explained Montreal police (SPVM). “Underground parking spaces will also be temporarily closed.” As a result, Shannon Street, south of Wellington Street, and Smith Street, east of Peel Street, have been closed. Motorists and cyclists are being asked to avoid the area. The operation, which could last longer than a day, is the result of an investigation by the narcotics unit of the SPVM’s Southern Project Investigations Section. It is in collaboration with the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), the Montreal Fire Department, Urgences-santé and Health Canada.
