A Regina transportation company and an individual are facing charges for alleged violations of Saskatchewan’s foreign worker protection laws. Escalade Transportation Inc. and Hafiz Tariq Ayub have each been charged with three offences under Sections 22 of The Foreign Worker Recruitment and Immigration Services Act (ISA). According to the province, the alleged offences occurred between November 2022 and August 2023 in Regina. The accused allegedly produced or distributed false or misleading information, misrepresented employment opportunities including wages, duties and other terms of employment, and took unfair advantage of a foreign national’s fear or lack of experience or knowledge. Escalade Transportation and Ayub are scheduled to appear in Regina Provincial Court on Sept. 17.
