Two women have been charged with second-degree murder in connection to a pair of deaths on Regina’s Elphinstone Street earlier this week. In an update Wednesday afternoon, the Regina Police Service (RPS) revealed it arrested and charged 42-year-old Rose Sparvier with two counts of second-degree murder. Sparvier is the second person facing charges in connection to Tuesday’s fatal shooting. Patricia Stevenson, 19, faces two counts of second-degree murder, unauthorized possession of a firearm and possessing a loaded or prohibited weapon. Both Sparvier and Stevenson made their first appearances in Regina Provincial Court on Wednesday. The names of the two victims will not be released, at the request of their families, according to RPS. Police officers responded to the 1100 block of Elphinstone Street at around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday after two people were reportedly shot. Officers found two bodies - a 42-year-old woman and 37-year-old man - outside a home in the area. Police said a suspect, implied to be Stevenson, fled the scene and attempted to hide from officers in a nearby yard. The suspect was arrested with the help of a canine unit. She was treated for injuries consistent with a dog bite. The investigation is still considered ongoing.
