Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for parts of Saskatchewan Monday. As of Monday morning, Saskatoon, Regina, Moose Jaw and Prince Albert were under yellow rainfall warning. The weather agency says heavy rain is expected through the night. According to the weather agency, a low-pressure system is expected to bring widespread rainfall amounts of 30 to 50 millimetres across much of southern Saskatchewan and parts of western Manitoba. Some areas could see more than 50 millimetres in thunderstorms. Environment Canada says rainfall amounts will vary, but heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected throughout the day and into the evening. The agency warns that water could pool on roads and in low-lying areas, while visibility may be reduced during periods of heavy rain. “Don’t drive through flooded roadways. Allow extra time for travel. Avoid low-lying areas,” the weather agency said in the alert.
