Eight teenagers, aged 14 to 18, have been arrested following a police chase involving a stolen vehicle and an alleged armed assault that began in Longueuil and led to Montreal Sunday night, involving three police services. Longueuil police (SPAL) say the incident began around 9:50 p.m. in the parking lot of a store near the intersection of Roland-Therrien Boulevard and Jacques-Cartier East Boulevard in Longueuil. Police told CTV News a woman in her 40s had been involved in an altercation with the teenagers before she was allegedly targeted in an armed assault involving the vehicle. She was not injured. The vehicle fled the parking lot and was later spotted by officers, who attempted to stop it. Police say the driver refused to stop, prompting a pursuit that continued into Montreal. Officers with the Montreal police (SPVM) and Quebec provincial police (Sûreté du Québec) assisted in the intervention. All eight teenagers were eventually arrested. Six were released on conditions, while two remain in custody. The SPAL is investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and determining what charges may be laid.
