OTTAWA — Canada will host Denmark in a pair of international friendlies ahead of qualification for next summer’s Women’s World Cup. Canada Soccer announced Tuesday that the women’s national team will face the Danes on Oct. 9 at Montreal’s Stade Saputo before closing out the FIFA international break on Oct. 12 at Toronto’s BMO Field. The exhibitions will be Canada’s final tune-up before November’s CONCACAF W Championship, which serves as qualification for both the 2027 Women’s World Cup and the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. The Canadian women return home for the first time since hosting Haiti in a pair of June 2025 friendlies in Montreal and Winnipeg. No. 9 Canada and No. 12 Denmark have split six all-time meetings, with three wins apiece. The sides haven’t met since Canada earned a 1-0 victory in the group stage of the 2017 Algarve Cup in Portugal. “Playing a team like Denmark gives us a really good opportunity to test ourselves and put the final pieces in place ahead of the CONCACAF W Championship,” Canada coach Casey Stoney said in a statement. “It’s also a great chance to face a very good European opponent.
