Town officials in Penetanguishene are taking up a unique solution to an ongoing problem. In a post on social media, the town has said it has heard complaints from residents about continued concerns of geese activity in popular outdoor spaces. “We want the community to know that we are continuing to explore different solutions,” the town said in its post. One of those solutions is a hawk-shaped deterrent kite that has gone up near a splash pad in town. The town says the kite is designed to mimic birds of prey and thus discourage geese from gathering in the area. Depending on the success of the experiment, the town says similar kites may go up around other beach areas in town.
