Crews investigate fatal fire at Toronto home for seniors

CP24’s Courtney Heels has the latest on the ‘significant response’ by Toronto emergency crews after a building fire left one person with critical injuries.

A person pulled from a fire at a downtown residence for seniors has died, Toronto Fire Chief Jim Jessop confirms.

The blaze broke out at at building located at Yonge and Carlton streets shortly before 10 p.m.

Officials say the fire was found in a unit on the eighth floor and one person was pulled from the apartment with no vital signs.

The occupant was later pronounced dead.

An investigation is underway into the cause, origin, and circumstances surrounding the fire.
