Mounties say one person has died after an apartment building caught fire near Central Park in Burnaby on Tuesday morning. Police say local firefighters called them to a high-rise on Grange Street, near Barker Avenue, just after 4:30 a.m., to assist with evacuations and shutting down traffic. Burnaby RCMP issued a statement detailing that one person succumbed to their injuries and died at the scene, despite life-saving measures. Mounties said the fire remains under investigation and added that arson investigators will work with Burnaby RCMP’s Investigative Support Team to determine its cause. “Our hearts go out to everyone affected by this tragic event,” said Cpl.
