Mounties say two people were airlifted to hospital after a collision on a Vancouver Island highway on Saturday morning. RCMP say they were notified that two vehicles collided at the intersection of Beverly Street and the Trans Canada Highway at around 8:30 a.m. As police explain, a sedan heading northbound on the highway was struck by another sedan coming from the opposite direction. The pair of people airlifted to hospital were first extracted by firefighters, according to police, who note that three more people were transported to a local hospital because of the crash. While an update wasn’t given on the status of their injuries, RCMP confirm there were no fatalities among the five people involved.
