Two CTV News Vancouver reporters have been named as finalists in this year’s Jack Webster Awards. The 2026 finalists for the prestigious journalism honours were announced Monday, and included Regan Hasegawa and Penny Daflos. Hasegawa was nominated for Best News Reporting of the Year for her coverage of the police shooting death of Chase De Balinhard, a Surrey teenager who was on the autism spectrum. Daflos was nominated for Excellence in Health Reporting for her series on B.C.’s toxic drug crisis, and the government’s shifting approach to addiction. The winners of the 40th annual Jack Webster Awards will be announced on Nov. 2.
