Nine years after a Langley woman vanished without a trace, her family returned to the Surrey neighbourhood where she was last seen, renewing their plea for answers. Kristina Ward’s parents joined Langley RCMP for a walk along 104 Avenue in Surrey on Thursday, retracing part of her final known route in hopes of reaching someone who may still have information about what happened to her. “It gets tough because we haven’t had any more tips on our missing daughter,” her father, Art Ward, told CTV News. Ward was reported missing on Sept. 25, 2017. Mounties said she was last seen on surveillance video at 144 Street and 104 Avenue two days later. “No contact, no sightings, no answers for nine years,” her mother, Lee Anne Ward, said. It’s just so heartbreaking. It’s just the pain doesn’t go away. Every day you struggle with looking, wondering.” Lee Anne added that her daughter was always easygoing, kind and well-mannered. “Let’s bring her home,” said Art. “We do pray that she’s still alive. It could go either way but we’ve accepted whatever way that the Lord wants to bring her home.” Langley RCMP reserve Const. Craig van Herk returned to the area on Thursday. He was one of the first officers involved in the investigation. “We’ve been investigating ever since and are here annually now to support the family to keep the awareness of Kristina out there, so that we can hopefully get one more piece of information that can help us solve this case,” said van Herk. “One piece of information that is seemingly small to someone is what we need to put the puzzle together.” “These investigations are difficult for us as officers,” added van Herk. “I myself have retired and come back. This was a current one when I was active, and you see families, you see parents grieving but still having the courage to be out here for their daughter, for the memory of it. That’s what it’s going to take and that’s actually what keeps us motivated to stay the course and keep working at it. We have to be persistent.” Ward is described as 5’5” tall, 130 pounds, with curly, brown hair and brown eyes.
