Waterloo Regional Police have charged a driver who lost control while trying to pass another vehicle in Wellesley Township. It happened Monday, around 3 p.m., on Line 86 near Lavery Road. Police said the driver of a white Honda tried to pass another vehicle at a high rate of speed, but lost control and careened across the road. It then sideswiped a Hyundai travelling in the opposite direction. The speed limit on that stretch of road is 80 km/h. Dash cam video shared with CTV News showed the Honda skidding across the shoulder and almost hitting the Hyundai head-on. Police said no one was hurt. A 22-year-old man from Listowel, who was driving the Honda, was charged with careless driving.
