The Windsor Public Library’s Central Branch has officially opened at its new location, 400 City Hall Square. Books, technology, and equipment have been moved from the former Paul Martin Building, into the new spot. The new branch is temporary as a permanent home is still sought. Library officials say the collection on-site is smaller, but library users still have access to the full collection through the holds and delivery system. “We’re in the process of ordering library lockers, similar to an Amazon locker, where you’d order your book and then it would be delivered to this locker, instead of a branch which is accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” said Mark McKenzie, library board chair. “We’re hoping to have one outside the new Central Branch, one in either Walkerville or Ford City, and then we’re thinking another in South Windsor, probably around Captain John Wilson Park, around that area.” The move happened earlier than anticipated after the library’s lease was ended to make room for a boutique hotel.
