Five people were arrested, and an assortment of cash and drugs were seized during a pair of search warrant executions in northern B.C. earlier this month, police said Monday. Chetwynd RCMP say officers searched two homes on Sept. 19 in the 5100 block of 42 Street Northeast and the 4700 block of Wabi Crescent, about a five-minute drive apart. Police say four of the people initially taken into custody were determined not to be involved with the investigation. The fifth arrestee was “released from custody without process, pending the results from the National Laboratory and future charge approval by the Public Prosecution Service of Canada,” according to Chetwynd RCMP. Information from the Department of Justice Canada explains that “released without process” means there are no conditions to the release, such as a pending court date or house arrest. RCMP say investigators seized around $7,000 in cash, more than 10 grams of suspected cocaine, more than 15 grams of suspected psilocybin, an assortment of prescription drugs, a vehicle, and drug trafficking paraphernalia. Police say their investigation remains ongoing.
