A global cybersecurity issue has prompted the University of Victoria (UVic) to take its website and personal web hosting services offline, leaving off campus users unable to access the main site. “We do not yet know when services will be restored because we are waiting for a security update from system vendors,” UVic said in a release. “We know this disruption will have a significant impact on our community. We are working to restore services as quickly and safely as possible. Thank you for your patience.” In an update posted at 1:10 p.m. PT, the university said access to uvic.ca remains available on campus, although some online sign in services may also be affected. UVic says further information will be shared as it becomes available.
