B.C. Conservative interim Leader Lorne Doerkson will not be doing a media scrum on election night, the party said in a statement about its plans for Saturday. It’s unclear if Doerkson will take questions from any individual reporters that night. The party said he will be giving a speech to supporters. The interim leader will be made available Sunday should the Conservatives “be in a position to form government,” according to the party’s statement. Asked if Doerkson will take questions Sunday if the party loses, a Conservatives spokesperson suggested he would. The update comes on the heels of NDP Leader David Eby saying Doerkson is “going into hiding” during the final days of the campaign—holding pricey private fundraisers instead of opening himself up to questions from the media. Doerkson is booked for an interview with CTV News Vancouver. The Conservative leader is scheduled to sit down with CTV News’ Michele Brunoro late Thursday for an interview to be broadcast Friday.
