The official ribbon cutting for Leamington’s Waterfront Market Plaza is set to take place Wednesday evening. At 7 p.m., the space will be opened, followed by live music by the Ashely Lynn Experience. The space features expanded parking, public washrooms, a playground and green space, public seating, food and drink vendors, and a new stage for performers. If you aren’t able to make it to the grand opening, there will be live music every Wednesday and Friday for the rest of the summer from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. That does not include Friday, Aug. 14, due to the Mill Street Market. “The Waterfront Market Plaza represents an exciting step forward in our vision for Leamington’s waterfront,” said Mayor Hilda MacDonald. “This space gives residents and visitors even more reasons to spend time at our waterfront while creating opportunities for local businesses and performers. We invite everyone to come down, experience the plaza and vendors, and enjoy our incredible waterfront as a gathering place.” Brew on the 42 coffee shop, a municipally run pilot project, is on site with the goal of bringing consistent activity to the waterfront. More vendors and events will be announced as the summer continues.
