Windsor police are telling residents to think twice before handing over your car keys. Police say they have seen a steady increase in vehicles being impounded due to operation by suspended or prohibited drivers. Here are latest statistics: • 2024: 64 vehicles impounded • 2025: 75 vehicles impounded • Jan. – Aug. 2026: 103 vehicles impounded Officers say lending your vehicle to someone with a suspended licence could cost you more than you think. If a suspended or prohibited driver is caught behind the wheel, your vehicle could be seized and impounded. Depending on the offence, the impoundment could last anywhere from seven to 180 days. You may also be responsible for all towing and storage fees before the vehicle is returned.
