A Saint John, N.B., lake has been closed for swimming after elevated bacteria levels were found through water testing by Public Health. The City of Saint John says swimming will not be permitted at Fisher Lakes in Rockwood Park until further notice. “This closure applies only to swimming at Fisher Lakes. No other City beaches or swimming areas are impacted at this time,” reads a news release from the city. The city says testing will continue and updates will be provided when additional information becomes available. “Warning signs have been posted at the site, and lifeguards will be on duty during regular operating hours to advise visitors and help ensure safety,” reads the release. Rockwood Park remains open for other recreational activities and the city is encouraging residents to hike nearby trails, walk or run along the shoreline, or enjoy a picnic.
