Man and woman arrested in Miramichi, N.B., on cocaine trafficking charges

A 27-year-old man from Baie Sainte Anne, N.B., and a 34-year-old woman from Miramichi, N.B., were arrested on Sept. 4 for alleged drug trafficking.

Miramichi police opened an investigation in August looking into cocaine trafficking in the city and nearby communities.

After the arrest, police say they executed a search warrant at a residence in Baie Sainte Anne and a vehicle driven by the two.

Officers reportedly seized:

• 148 grams of suspected cocaine
• four grams of suspected crack cocaine
• two grams of suspected fentanyl
• Canadian cash
• drug trafficking paraphernalia

The man and woman were released from custody pending a future appearance in provincial court.

The investigation is ongoing.
