The province of Nova Scotia has announced a “modern” set of rules for the road that go into place later this month. The first set of regulations under the new Traffic Safety Act were released on Wednesday to replace the longstanding Motor Vehicle Act. Officials say the changes allow for easier updates and clarify language. The regulations will also reportedly: The president and CEO of CAA Atlantic says the association supports the new regulations. “Modern legislation provides the flexibility to respond to emerging road safety issues and better protect all road users,” said Dawn Dalley. “We are encouraged by the focus on vulnerable road users, including children, cyclists and emergency responders including tow operators, and look forward to continuing to work with government as additional regulations are developed.” The Traffic Safety Act was passed last fall and goes into effect on Oct. 19.
