A thrift store in Cape Breton will close its doors at the end of next month. The Salvation Army says its thrift store on Commercial Street in North Sydney, N.S., will permanently close on Aug. 31. The charitable organisation says the decision to close was made after “a thorough review of the store’s ongoing financial challenges.” The thrift store will no longer accept donations, effective immediately, though customers are encouraged to visit in the coming weeks to take advantage of final discounts. “The Salvation Army will continue to serve individuals and families in the area through Sydney Community Church and its Community and Family Services hub office in North Sydney, Christmas assistance, and through street ministry,” reads a news release. “The Salvation Army thanks those in the community for their ongoing support and understanding.” The Salvation Army Thrift Store on Prince Street in Sydney is not affected by the North Sydney closure.
