Woman facing more than 40 shoplifting-related charges: Halifax police

A woman is facing over 40 charges after Halifax police responded to a shoplifting report Sunday.

The Halifax Regional Police responded to a Superstore on Young Street around 6:40 p.m.

Police say officers learned a repeat shoplifter stole merchandise and fled on foot.

“Officers located and arrested the suspect without incident. During the investigation, officers determined the woman was believed to be the suspect in 22 other incidents,” reads a social media post by the Halifax Regional Police.

Jennifer Bowser, 40, was scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court Monday to face the following:

• 20 counts of theft under $5,000
• 20 counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
• two counts of unlawful use a credit card
• two counts of unlawfully possess a credit card
• fail to attend court
