If you’re a CAA member, you might want to think about shifting your habits to online if you haven’t already as the physical retail locations are beginning to shut down. A spokesperson for CAA South Central Ontario says the decision to close its Barrie location was a difficult one. It is set to close by the end of October. The decision comes during a time when members are accessing CAA services remotely and digitally, according to the company. “This decision reflects ongoing changes in consumer preferences and the broader evolution of the retail landscape,” the spokesperson tells CTV News. The company says while it adapts to the changing landscape, it will stay focused on providing convenient, accessible and high-quality service to its members. “Shifting consumer preferences have resulted in a steady decline in traffic to our store,” the spokesperson says. When it comes to store employees, the organization says they will be supported. “We have taken great care to ensure our associates are supported through this,” the spokesperson says. There are also CAA retail locations in Newmarket and Orangeville, which are remaining open. Orillia’s location closed earlier this summer. A retail location for CAA in Barrie has been around since the 1960s with its first location on Dunlop Street and now, located on Barrie View Drive. CAA retailers offer travel planning, insurance services and membership assistance. They sell luggage, travel accessories and road safety equipment.
