Two people have been arrested after police in P.E.I. say a search led to the seizure of drugs and a weapon. The RCMP says officers executed a search warrant in East Bideford, P.E.I., on Monday and seized two ounces of cocaine, drug paraphernalia, and a prohibited weapon. “A 63-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman were arrested for possession for the purpose of trafficking,” reads a news release from the P.E.I. RCMP. Chief Supt. Kevin Lewis said there is a positive impact on public safety any time illegal drugs can be taken out of the community. “This seizure is 56 grams, and this drug is usually sold in fractions of a gram quantities. So this seizure could potentially have been divided into many smaller amounts,” said Lewis. The investigation is ongoing. For more P.E.I. news, visit our dedicated provincial page.
