The driver of a car and a cyclist are both facing charges after a collision on Monday evening. Barrie Police say it happened just before 8:30 p.m. in the area of Ferndale Drive and Essa Road. According to police, the car was travelling southbound on Ferndale Drive and turned right onto Essa Road when it collided with a cyclist who was travelling west on Essa. County of Simcoe Paramedics confirmed to CTV News that the 47-year-old female cyclist did not suffer any serious injuries. However, after the collision a verbal altercation broke out between a male cyclist who was with the woman and the driver of the vehicle. Police say the driver, a 54-year-old man, was charged with careless driving. Meanwhile, the 43-year-old male cyclist was charged with mischief under $5,000 in relation to additional damage to the vehicle that occurred after the collision.
