To mark the 100th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Legion General Stewart No. 4 branch in Lethbridge, a special gala will take place in October. On Oct. 3, the Legion will host its anniversary gala at the Sandman Signature Lethbridge Lodge. The evening will celebrate a century of service, remembrance, dedication and community. For 100 years, the Legion has supported veterans and their families in Lethbridge. This year also marked the 100th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Legion. “People remember coming into the Legion for family dinners on a Friday or Saturday when they were small children and coming in with their parents or grandparents,” said Sheila Heinrich, centennial committee chair. “I’ve been married 42 years, and my first date was at a Legion dance on a Friday night. So, there are lots of memories for lots of people in the community.” Everyone is invited to attend the gala next month. Tickets for the event can be purchased at the Legion office.
