Tour operator Pursuit is resuming its Columbia Icefield Adventure trips after an incident earlier this week that resulted in an employee being injured. The victim, a mechanic, was hurt when a small tour vehicle stalled and rolled down an embankment on the Columbia Icefield in Jasper National Park on Tuesday. Pursuit says the man was conducting an operational maintenance check at the time and was the only person on the vehicle. RCMP said he suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. In a Thursday update, Pursuit said the man is now recovering at home – and tours on the Columbia Icefield are now resuming. Ice Odyssey tours, however, remain unavailable until Sept. 9, at the earliest. The Columbia Icefield Skywalk remains open. Pursuit says all guests affected by the temporary shutdown of tours following the rollover will receive a full refund and can rebook, should they wish to. “The safety and well-being of our team members and guests is fundamental to how we operate,” said Stuart Back, Pursuit’s Canadian chief operating officer. “We are gathering facts about the incident and carefully reviewing the circumstances with the applicable authorities. We will not speculate about the cause while that work is underway.”
