It was the worst-case scenario for the Calgary Flames at the NHL draft lottery on Tuesday as the team saw their spot on the draft pick list fall from fourth to sixth. The team, which finished fourth-last in the regular NHL season, had a 9.5 per cent chance of moving up from the fourth-highest odds to make a pick for new talent in the 2026-27 season. Despite now getting the sixth overall pick, the team’s general manager, Craig Conroy, says the team can still get a very good player in the draft next month. The Toronto Maple Leafs will get the first overall pick of who to draft next month. The NHL draft will take place in New Jersey on June 26.
