A Calgary man has been charged in connection with a collision last year that killed one person and injured two others. The collision happened on 52 Street N.E., south of Temple Drive N.E., just after 5 a.m. on July 21, 2025. Police say the accused was driving a pickup truck south in the northbound lanes of the roadway when he hit a pedestrian. The pedestrian, a woman in her 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene. It’s alleged that after hitting the pedestrian, the truck continued travelling south, colliding with an oncoming SUV before coming to a stop and bursting into flames. The driver of the SUV, a 33-year-old woman, and a 25-year-old man in the passenger seat were both taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the pickup suffered serious injuries. On Wednesday, police announced the pickup driver, 26-year-old Rami Hamdan, had been charged with one count of criminal dangerous driving causing death and two counts of criminal dangerous driving causing bodily harm. He is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 27.
