Friday will start off very similar to Thursday, with clear skies, minimal wind and warm temperatures. The daytime highs across central and southern Alberta will be above seasonal and largely in the low 20s. Throughout the afternoon there will be increasing cloud and some isolated showers around the QEII and as far south as the Calgary area, when a low-pressure system moving through the northern prairies introduces some colder air and instability along the trailing cold front. That precipitation is expected to begin in the late afternoon/early evening Friday and continue overnight and there is a chance of weak thunderstorms developing. However, both the energy and organization will be lacking so there is minimal concern of any potential thunderstorms becoming severe in nature. Daytime highs on Saturday will be cooler, sitting around 17 C in Calgary, but that is still warmer than the average high of 14 C. Starting Sunday the daytime highs in Calgary will range from 15 C to 22 C with the bulk of days in the low 20s.
